Alumni News - November edition

Latest releases 

  • Aoife Kennan recently wrote and performed in Scratches at the Jermyn Street Theatre, one of two new plays featured in Chrysalis on 24 October. 
  • Sanctuary City, directed by Rebecca Frecknall, is now available for streaming with New York Theatre Workshop until 21 November, following its recent run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. 
  • Catch up with BBC comedy-thriller The Outlaws, starring Charles Babalola, on BBC iPlayer. 
  • One Night, starring MyAnna Buring, is available to watch on BritBox from 28 October. 
  • Crime drama The Long Call, starring Ben Aldridge, Martin Shaw and Amit Shah, aired on ITV in late October. Catch up now on ITV Hub or BritBox. 
  • Catch Garmon Rhys currently starring in Tina: The Musical at Aldwych Theatre. 
  • Listen to John Lithgow in an original Audible murder mystery, The Guilty, now available. 
  • Flushed, starring Elizabeth Hammerton, is playing at the Park Theatre until 6 November, and features technical stage management by Alice Wood. 
  • Watch the trailer for House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel series which is set to star Fabien Frankel. The show will be released in 2022.   
  • Auto-Engrain is playing at the Pleasance Theatre on 2 November, including Brandon Boruch as Assistant Director, Ben Garcia as Lighting Designer, Sophie O'Neill as Sound Designer and Stage Manager, and Vadim Wilkie as part of the tech team. 
  • Amy Hill is providing lighting design for The Girl Who Was Very Good at Lying at the Omnibus Theatre from 2 – 21 November. 
  • Theatre503’s Milk and Gall, starring MyAnna Buring, opens on 2 November and runs until 27 November. 
  • Holly Ellis will be the Lighting Designer for Bobby & Amy, touring from 2 – 27 November. 
  • Amelia Donkor is appearing in triple bill Douglass / Medea / Duende at Wilton’s Music Hall from 2 November, after which it transfers to the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Luca Panetta is providing lighting and video design, and Ali Graham is Stage Manager.
  • Yellowfin, stage managed by Cassie Harrison and lighting designed by Rajiv Pattani, runs at Southwark Playhouse until 6 November. 
  • Until 6 November, Louise Hoare and Adam Slynn are starring in Skin Tight at the Hope Theatre. Max Kirk is directing the production and Josephine Lea Fadani is the Company Stage Manager.
  • Ché Francis is currently starring in DORIAN at Reading Rep Theatre, playing until 7 November. 
  • Women’s Writes, founded by Alex Critoph, is returning with three new short plays playing at the Arcola Theatre on 7 November. Everything is written by Alex Critoph and directed by Beth Wilson, and Reclaim the Night will star Leah Harvey. Learn more. 
  • Tabitha Piggott is currently the Production Manager for Old Bridge, playing at the Bush Theatre until 20 November. 
  • Watch Aisling Bea in the trailer for Home Sweet Home Alone before its release on Disney+ on 12 November.
  • Maddie is playing at the Arcola Theatre from 12 - 14 November, featuring sound design by Anna Short and stage management by Josephine Lea Fadani.
  • The Bolds, starring Sam Swann and Jon Trenchard, opens at the Unicorn Theatre on 14 November and runs until New Year’s Eve. 
  • Playhouse Theatre’s revival of Cabaret, directed by Rebecca Frecknall, is opening on the West End on 15 November. 
  • Jack Sunderland stars in DJ Bazzer’s Year 6 Disco, playing at Riverside Studios from 16 - 20 November.
  • King Richard, featuring Tony Goldwyn, is set to be released in cinemas on 19 November. Watch the new trailer now.
  • Tony Goldwyn can also be seen in National Geographic’s The Hot Zone: Anthrax, beginning on 28 November. 
  • Watch Jordan Peters and Elliot Edusah in the trailer for Pirates before its release on 26 November.  
  • Released on 26 November, Jim Broadbent stars in A Boy Called Christmas – available in cinemas and on Sky Cinema in the UK, and released internationally on Netflix. 
  • Sky Yang has been announced as part of the cast for The Book of Dust at the Bridge Theatre, with performances beginning on 30 November. 
  • Rebecca Tebbett has been cast in The Nutcracker Re-Miced, playing from 30 November to 24 December in Durham – at Bishop Auckland Town Hall and Gala Theatre. 

Things to look forward to 

  • Paterson Joseph will be part of the cast for Unearthed Narratives from Sky Studios and DBK Studios, a five-part short film series that will highlight black and diverse talent in the UK. 
  • Paterson Joseph is also set to appear in the upcoming Willy Wonka prequel film Wonka, due for release in 2023. 
  • Maya Sondhi is writing a new four-part ITV series centered around a police officer in Birmingham. 
  • Filming has begun for McDonald & Dodds series 3, with Claire Skinner joining the cast. 
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor has been cast in sci-fi romance film The Pod Generation.

  • Jonathan Ajayi, Amir El-Masry and Aaron Pierre all feature in Screen Daily’s 2021 Stars of Tomorrow list.
  • Congratulations to Amir El-Masry, who has been nominated in the Actor Film category at the BAFTA Scotland Awards 2021 for his role in Limbo. 
  • Congratulations to Tinuke Craig (for The Color Purple) and Rosalind Eleazar (for Uncle Vanya), who have been nominated at the Black British Theatre Awards 2021. LAMDA’s Lead Practitioner (Singing and Music) Annabel Mutale Reedhas also been nominated for the Book and Lyrics Recognition Award. 
  • Jordan Peters and Elliot Edusah have been longlisted for their roles in Piratesat the 2021 BIFA New Talent Awards.
  • Play It Safe, starring Jonathan Ajayi, has been longlisted for the 2021 BIFA Best British Short award.
